As with engraving, the desired contours are defined via the machine controls. No minimum spindle speed is required, as the marking needle is powered using compressed air or the internal tool cooler's coolant. The gravostar can be used to mark practically any material, including aluminium, non-ferrous metals, tool and stainless steel in a wide range of alloys, as well as hardened materials of up to approx. 62 HRC. Thanks to the automated distance compensation function, parts with large differences in size, round or uneven surfaces e.g. raw castings are easily markable.
